Check it out! Courtnaé Paul is featured on the Hype Magazine YouTube channel with an exciting 6-part master class, showcasing some of Johannesburg’s finest breakers, including Swae V, Bboy Wartoy, Bboy Rage, Joonyroc, and Bgirl Baylie. Watch these episodes and stand a chance to win a Red Bull Amazing Experience.

Hype Magazine dives deep, asking intriguing questions about each breaker’s journey into the dance world, their unique styles, their crews, and their aspirations for the future. They also explore Courtnaé Paul’s inspiring path to the Olympics.

Episode 1 kicks off with Swae V and Courtnaé Paul exploring Top Rocks. They focus on weight transfer, groove, and a choreography piece starting with a V-Step (Cross Front Step), followed by a double side step, a two-step turn, and finishing in an open arm stance.

In Episode 2, Bgirl Baylie and Courtnaé Paul break down the Go Down, which transitions from standing Top Rocks to footwork. It begins with a knee drop, resembling the scarecrow popping style of Hip Hop, followed by a knee lift with an accented “What?!?” gesture and a turning knee switch ending in a knee stance.

Episode 3 features Joonyroc and Courtnaé Paul teaching footwork. This episode builds from the Go Down into a three-step routine with a raised leg in a V shape, a leg sweep into the Six Step, and finishes with a Jazz Split slide. Remember to include the whips in your footwork for elongated, intentional steps.

In Episode 4, Bboy Wartoy and Courtnaé Paul break down the back spin, an original power move. From the Jazz Split, they demonstrate the Lazy Boy power kick leading into the back spin. The key is to use leg extensions and momentum to increase spin speed, ending with a foot placement and a straightened leg.

Episode 5 sees Bboy Rage and Courtnaé Paul working on freezes. They build from the previous episode’s power move, incorporating a footwork hook, knee rock, upper hook, and ending with a stab freeze. This freeze move requires practice and balance, so consider seeking guidance from a local breaking teacher.

The final Episode 6 brings together Courtnaé Paul and all the breakers to showcase the complete routine. Watching everyone perform together in a team formation is a highlight, and we eagerly await the uploads of your attempts on the Hype Magazine site for the chance to win the awesome Red Bull experience.

We hope you enjoyed this master class. Don’t forget to participate in this super cool opportunity!
